By Katey & Austin
In February of 2024, we found out that we were expecting. Unfortunately, the pregnancy was found to be ectopic and resulted in Katey’s left fallopian tube rupturing, requiring a surgical procedure and ending in a left salpingectomy. Much to our surprise, we found out that we were pregnant again in June of 2024. That pregnancy was also found to be ectopic and resulted in another emergency surgery for Katey to remove her right fallopian tube. Losing the ability to conceive on our own was devastating for us.
Our OBGYN referred us to Boston IVF, where we were hopeful that one day our rainbow baby would join our world. We opted into doing a freeze all cycle. This included an egg retrieval which gave us 3 beautiful embryos. In March of 2025, we had our first transfer. We remained optimistic, with the help of Dr. Lannon and his team routing us on. The nurses at Boston IVF the day of the retrieval and frozen embryo transfer were so positive and encouraging to us and gave us so much hope in a cautiously optimistic way that we felt supported throughout the journey.
We found out that we were pregnant at our first beta test and were over the moon. All of the medications, hope, and optimism from family, friends, and each other had worked! We welcomed our rainbow baby girl, Adelyn, in November of 2025 and she is the most perfect addition to our family! We can’t thank the team at Boston IVF enough for helping to give us the best gift that we could ever receive.
WHAT IS UNIQUE/DIFFERENT ABOUT YOUR STORY?
Our fertility journey began in September of 2024. We completed an egg retrieval in January of 2025, then went on to do a frozen embryo transfer in March of 2025 which resulted in our baby girl!
WHAT ADVICE DO YOU HAVE FOR OTHER STRUGGLING WITH INFERTILITY?
Some words of advice when starting your family building journey: know that you are not alone. Many people have had struggles with fertility and even though it feels lonely and unfair to see those around you have what you want so very bad, you are not alone. Support groups are very helpful as well as confiding in your family and friends. It is so helpful to have support from those in your life, even if it’s just to lend an ear on a stressful day during your journey.
