our story

By Katelyn & Zachary

Being diagnosed with PCOS at the young age of 15, I was always told “you are going to have trouble getting pregnant.” I thought nothing of it because motherhood was so far away.

Fast forward to actively trying, it became a reality. Many negative tests, lots of emotions and trying on our own for a little over a year my OB/gun recommended Boston IVF.

Dr. Berger was so welcoming and gave us that sense of hope. He said we were in the right place. We did our first egg retrieval which resulted in one good PGT-A embryo. We were devastated to go through all the work for the egg retrieval to only end up with one embryo, but nevertheless we persisted and did our frozen embryo transfers. Full of hope. It didn’t stick and Dr. Berger himself called me to deliver the news and to let me know things would be okay and we would go ahead with another cycle. If it wasn’t for his kind positive words, I don’t know what we would have done.

We prepared for another egg retrieval this time with a heavier dose with the medicines. We had a better outcome resulting in 5 good PGT-A tested embryos. We prepared for our next transfer. And the rest is history. We have our sweet little angel baby boy Bennett. Born in April 2025. Thank you to Dr. Berger and the wonderful team of nurses, doctors, ultra sound techs, and lab techs for making our dreams become a reality.

HOW DID YOUR BOSTON IVF PHYSICIAN AND NURSING TEAM HELP TO MAKE YOUR JOURNEY A SUCCESS?

Dr. Berger hands down made my journey so much more positive, but the nurses, ultrasound techs and lab nurses are really the MVPs. You see them bright and early for monitoring and you get to know them and their families just from conversations. I wouldn’t have made it through without them.

WHAT WERE SOME HIGHS OR LOWS OF YOUR TREATMENT(S)? WHAT IS UNIQUE/DIFFERENT ABOUT YOUR STORY?

Highs… meeting a wonderful community of people who were also going through IVF and being able to talk freely and openly about my journey. They get it.
Lows- the wait times, the “bad news”, insurance approvals.

WHAT ADVICE DO YOU HAVE FOR OTHER STRUGGLING WITH INFERTILITY?

My best advice is to find your circle and protect your peace. People have a lot to say about trying to have a baby and IVF. Talk to people you can trust and really care about your journey. You might lose some people along the way, but that’s okay.
