Biography

Dr. Heyward’s current research interests include identifying racial disparities in healthcare, improving the cost-effectiveness of healthcare, and more.

Dr. Heyward obtained his undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a major in Applied Sciences and a focus on Biomedical Engineering, received his medical degree from the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University, obtained his Master of Business Administration (MBA) at the Samuel Curtis Johnson Graduate School of Management at Cornell University, and completed his Obstetrics & Gynecology residency at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Following his undergraduate studies, he held a prominent role at the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), where he worked with healthcare professionals at VA clinics and hospitals across the nation.

He is active in research and has presented his work at several conferences including the American College of Obstetrics & Gynecology, the Society of Gynecologic Oncology, and the American Society for Reproductive Medicine.

In his spare time, he enjoys running, swimming, exploring new restaurants, and traveling across the world.
